Youth Tour Confirms Strong Performance - Northern Cross River Youths Signal Readiness to Back Governor for Second Term
After a comprehensive tour across the Northern Senatorial District, youth leaders under the platform of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Cross River State chapter, have expressed firm satisfaction with the performance of the State Governor, signaling readiness to support his second-term bid.
The position was made clear during the grand finale of the Future First: Youth Engagement and Assessment Tour held in Ogoja, where the State Chairman, Comr. Emmanuel Olayi, addressed a large gathering of youths, students, and community stakeholders.
The tour, which covered key local government areas including Obudu, Yala, Bekwarra, and Obanliku, was designed to:
- Evaluate ongoing government projects
- Engage directly with grassroots communities
- Assess the real impact of governance on the people
According to the NYCN leadership, the findings from the field were consistent and clear, visible development efforts and a government actively working to deliver on its mandate.
Speaking at the event, Comr. Olayi stated that the tour was not based on assumptions, but on first-hand verification:
“We deliberately moved round communities across the Northern Senatorial District. We have seen the projects, we have engaged the people, and we can confidently say that the Governor is performing.”
He emphasized that the assessment reflects the collective position of youths who participated in the tour and interacted with communities at every stop.
Based on these observations, the youth body indicated a strong willingness to politically align with continuity:
“From what we have seen on ground, we are ready to stand with the Governor and support him for a second term,” Olayi added.
This marks a significant early signal as political activities gradually build toward the 2027 general elections.
Participants at the event echoed similar sentiments, noting that:
- Sustained development requires policy continuity
- Ongoing projects need time for consolidation
- Youth inclusion in governance must be strengthened further
Community representatives and youth coordinators reaffirmed their commitment to mobilizing support for leadership that demonstrates measurable performance.
While expressing support, the NYCN leadership also stressed the importance of maintaining peace and unity throughout the political process.
“Politics should not divide us or lead to conflict. Our role as youths is to support progress peacefully and responsibly,” Olayi cautioned.
The outcome of the tour positions the youth constituency as an emerging decisive bloc in Cross River’s political landscape. Their endorsement—rooted in field assessment rather than rhetoric—adds weight to the Governor’s performance narrative.
The Northern Cross River youth tour has effectively transitioned from engagement to evaluation, and now to early political alignment.
The message is unambiguous:
“We have gone round, we have seen the work, and we are ready to support continuity.”
