The Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Area, Chief Hon. Christopher Agbeh, has taken a decisive step toward improving public safety and boosting internally generated revenue with plans to rebuild the Council Motor Park at Ekpugrinya, located in Ekajuk Ward 2.
During an on-the-spot assessment visit to the proposed site, the Chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring order in the area’s transport system. He noted that the absence of a properly structured motor park has led to persistent congestion along major roads, increasing the risk of accidents and endangering lives.
According to Chief Agbeh, the reconstruction project is a strategic intervention aimed at regulating vehicular movement, reducing roadside chaos, and creating a safer environment for commuters and residents alike. He added that beyond safety, the motor park will serve as a key source of revenue for the council by formalizing transport operations and ensuring better compliance among drivers and operators.
The Chairman also called on residents and key stakeholders within the community to lend their full support to the initiative, emphasizing that cooperation is essential for timely execution and long-term success.
Responding on behalf of the community, Mr. Okaere expressed gratitude for the Chairman’s proactive leadership. He assured the council of the community’s readiness to collaborate, noting that the project has been long overdue and holds great promise for improving daily life in the area.
Residents believe the redevelopment of the Ekpugrinya Motor Park will not only ease traffic congestion but also create new economic opportunities, enhance orderliness, and contribute to sustainable development across Ogoja.
As work plans progress, the project stands as a clear signal of the council’s commitment to infrastructure renewal and grassroots development within Ogoja.
