The Cross River State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has lauded the Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Area, Christopher Agbeh, describing him as a proactive leader committed to youth development and infrastructural growth.
The State Coordinator of NYCN, Emmanuel Olayi, gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to the council chairman alongside members of the state executive. He noted that Agbeh has distinguished himself as a “pathfinder,” particularly in the areas of human capital development, infrastructure, and youth empowerment.
Olayi explained that the visit formed part of the council’s ongoing tour of local government areas across Cross River State. According to him, the initiative is aimed at sensitizing youths on emerging political activities, discouraging their involvement in unlawful acts, and guiding them toward constructive engagement.
Speaking on the theme “Future First: Cross River Youth Unity and Assessment, Building Tomorrow Today Through Unity, Accountability, and Representation,” Olayi emphasized the need for young people to align with the state’s development agenda. He added that the current administration’s strides in infrastructure and economic growth present an opportunity for youths to contribute meaningfully to progress.
In his response, Agbeh described the visit as timely, stressing the importance of reorienting young people to meet societal expectations. He expressed concern over what he termed rising negative tendencies among some youths, including involvement in social vices and the spread of misinformation.
The chairman called for deliberate efforts to curb such behaviors and urged youths to embrace responsibility and positive engagement. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting credible youth initiatives and wished the NYCN delegation success in its statewide campaign.
The engagement underscores growing collaboration between youth organizations and local government authorities in promoting responsible citizenship and sustainable development.
