BREAKING NEWS: FG Places FCT, Cross River, 8 Other States on High Ebola Alert Over New Outbreak

The Federal Government, through the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), has placed the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and nine states on high Ebola preparedness alert following the outbreak of the deadly Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola Virus Disease in parts of East and Central Africa.  The states classified as high-risk include Lagos, Rivers, Kano, Enugu, Borno, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Taraba, Adamawa, and the FCT, due to their international airports, seaports, border routes, and heavy human movement.  Although Nigeria has not recorded any confirmed Ebola case, the NCDC warned that increasing regional transmission, international travel, and porous borders have raised the risk of the virus entering the country. The political atmosphere across Cross River North has remained vibrant following the resounding victory of Distinguished Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe at the APC Cross River North Senatorial Primary Election.

Joining the chorus of congratulatory messages is Engr. Mrs. Aleji Jecinta Etalong, fondly known as the Golden Mother of Ogoja, who has extended her heartfelt congratulations to the distinguished lawmaker on what she described as a well-deserved and overwhelming victory.

Mrs. Etalong, a respected grassroots mobilizer from Ekajuk Ward 1, noted that Senator Jarigbe’s victory is a clear testament to the confidence, trust, and unwavering support he continues to enjoy among the people of Cross River North Senatorial District.

According to her, the outcome of the primary election reflects widespread satisfaction with the Senator’s quality representation, people-oriented leadership, and developmental strides at the National Assembly.

As a committed advocate for grassroots political participation, Mrs. Etalong revealed that she actively mobilized women, youths, and party faithful across Ekajuk Ward 1 to massively support Senator Jarigbe during the primaries.
