BREAKING NEWS: FG Places FCT, Cross River, 8 Other States on High Ebola Alert Over New Outbreak

The Federal Government, through the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), has placed the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and nine states on high Ebola preparedness alert following the outbreak of the deadly Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola Virus Disease in parts of East and Central Africa.  The states classified as high-risk include Lagos, Rivers, Kano, Enugu, Borno, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Taraba, Adamawa, and the FCT, due to their international airports, seaports, border routes, and heavy human movement.  Although Nigeria has not recorded any confirmed Ebola case, the NCDC warned that increasing regional transmission, international travel, and porous borders have raised the risk of the virus entering the country.
