The Executive Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Council, Chief Hon. Christopher Agbeh, has expressed confidence in the capacity of Nigeria’s security institutions to address the country’s security challenges and promote lasting peace.

Chief Agbeh made this known during a courtesy visit to the Commandant of the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS), Mr. Joseph Obama, in Bwari, Abuja, as part of his official working visit to the Federal Capital Territory.

He commended the Institute for its robust academic programmes and standardized curriculum, noting that if properly harnessed, the NISS could become a hub for international security training and cooperation. “With effective utilization and proper management of our security apparatus, Nigeria remains one of the most promising countries for investment,” the Chairman stated.

Chief Agbeh further pledged to enhance the management of Ogoja’s internal and external security frameworks. He emphasized the critical role of security in fostering sustainable development, stressing that economic growth and investor confidence are dependent on the safety of lives and property.

In his remarks, the Commandant of the Institute, Mr. Joseph Obama, lauded the Chairman’s proactive approach to security. He noted that the increasing engagement of local government councils in security matters is a positive trend. Mr. Obama advised the Chairman to explore the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in local security operations, saying such innovations could attract industrial investments and bolster community safety.

The visit concluded with an exchange of gifts between the Chairman and the Commandant, symbolizing a strengthened relationship and mutual commitment to improving security.
