The Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Council, Hon. Chief Christopher Agbeh, has commended the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for partnering with the Council to deliver free healthcare services to rural dwellers under the Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD) programme.
Speaking through the Supervisor for Health, Hon. David Ilom, during the official flag-off of the fourth-quarter outreach at Egbe Mbube Community, the Chairman described the initiative as timely and impactful, especially for residents who have limited access to medical facilities. He encouraged community members to take full advantage of the services, adding that the programme aligns perfectly with Governor Bassey Otu’s “People First” agenda, which emphasises improved and accessible healthcare for all.
The Clan Head of Egbe Mbube, HRH Thomas Agbeh, also extended heartfelt appreciation to NYSC for bringing the exercise to his community. He pledged the community’s cooperation and support to ensure the outreach achieves its intended purpose.
Representing the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Oyenuga Joke, Comrade Elot Elot Ukam said the HIRD outreach underscores NYSC’s unwavering commitment to community development and rural health improvement.
