Chairman of Ogoja Hon. Christopher Agbeh Celebrates Cultural Unity at Lejie Buturo Idum Mbube 2025.



The rich cultural fabric of Ogoja Local Government Area came alive today at the annual Lejie Buturo Idum Mbube celebration. The well-attended event drew sons and daughters of the Idum community together in a vibrant display of unity, heritage, and tradition.

Though unavoidably absent, the Executive Chairman of Ogoja LGA, Chief Hon. Christopher Agbeh, was ably represented by the Secretary of Council, Chief Alex Atem. In his goodwill message, the Chairman emphasized the importance of traditional gatherings in promoting peaceful coexistence, moral values, and grassroots development. He reiterated the council’s commitment to supporting cultural practices that strengthen the communal bond and identity of the Ogoja people.

One of the most memorable highlights of the day was the coronation of four distinguished sons of the Idum community. Their installation as Buturo Chiefs marked the beginning of a new chapter in community leadership and service:

  1. Lt. Col. Thomas ObeguButuro Akubli Mpi 1 of Idum
  2. Mr. Joe Aras AbueButuro Adeh 1 of Idum
  3. Mr. Bisong Abang EjueButuro Agehpie 1 of Idum
  4. Hon. Emmanuel AnohButuro Otoro 1 of Idum

Speaking on behalf of the newly coronated chiefs, Buturo Emmanuel Anoh expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Council of Chiefs and the entire community. He pledged their collective resolve to uphold the culture, values, and development goals of Idum land, promising visionary leadership and service.

The Paramount Ruler of Ogoja also delivered a powerful charge to the new chiefs, urging them to carry the torch of tradition with honor and dedication. He emphasized the importance of preserving the land’s rich heritage while embracing progress and unity.

As the drums beat and the dancers swayed, Lejie Buturo Idum Mbube 2025 served as a powerful reminder of the strength in cultural identity and community cohesion. Ogoja continues to shine as a beacon of tradition, leadership, and peaceful progress.
