CHAIRMAN OF OGOJA LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL FLAGS OFF CLEANING OF OGOJA ULTRA MODERN MARKET

The Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Council, Hon. Christopher Agbeh, has officially launched the cleaning and clearing of the Ogoja Ultra Modern Market at Ndok Junction, with the aim of restoring full commercial activities in the area. Hon. Agbeh emphasized that the primary purpose of acquiring the vast land was to drive economic development and foster growth in Ogoja Local Government Area.

Hon. Agbeh highlighted that the market’s establishment was a well-thought-out initiative, strategically positioned to serve everyone within the Ogoja vicinity. He reassured the public that his administration would ensure the smooth take-off of activities in the market.

Leading a team of council officials around the site, the Chairman expressed mixed feelings, particularly concerning the misuse of allocated plots. He noted that illegal allocations had distorted the original master plan of the market, hindering the pace of development. He reiterated his commitment to collaborate with the state government to activate the business potential of the ultra-modern market, adding that the government of Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu is focused on people-oriented programmes and projects aimed at advancing both the local community and the state.

Additionally, Hon. Agbeh revealed plans to relocate all kiosks to the market, creating space for the green area to be revitalized. This, he believes, will complement the ongoing road network improvements initiated by Governor Otu’s administration in Ogoja Local Government Area.

The Chairman of the Rice Mill section of the market lauded Hon. Agbeh’s foresight, describing his intentions as commendable and deserving of support from the people. He emphasized that the market’s strategic location is ideal for the full activation of commercial activities in Ogoja Ultra Modern Market at Ndok Junction, Urban Ward 2.

Hon. Mary Otoro, the Honourable Councillor representing Urban Ward 2, expressed satisfaction and optimism about the project, assuring that it would surely come to fruition. She promised that the community would support the Council’s efforts to upgrade the facility to international standards.

The event was attended by several prominent individuals, including the Leader of the Ogoja Legislative Council, Hon. (Dr) Elizabeth Mbim; the Supervisor for Works, Mr. Jake Ogeh; the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), Mrs. Cecilia Ogah Ekunke; the Director of Works, Engr. Raymond Ebim; as well as Special Adviser Assistants on Chieftaincy Affairs, Youths, and Sports, and the Council’s Revenue Officer, Mrs. Vicky Ugbuji.
