Commissioner Patrick Egbede Sympathizes with SPAR Mall Fire Victims, Reassures Investors

The Cross River State Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Hon. Patrick Egbede, has expressed sympathy to victims and businesses affected by the fire incident at SPAR Mall in Calabar. The fire, which caused concern among residents, customers, workers and business operators, has raised fresh concerns about the safety and protection of investments within the state. Reacting to the incident, Commissioner Egbede extended his sympathy to those who suffered losses and expressed concern over the impact of the incident on affected businesses, workers and investors. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all 18 chairmanship positions in the Cross River LG elections held on Saturday. Ekong Boco, chairman of the Cross River State Electoral Commission (CRSEC) and the election’s returning officer, announced the results on Sunday at the commission’s headquarters in Calabar. The APC won in Abi, Odukpani, Bakassi, Akpabuyo, Ogoja, Akamkpa, Bekwarra, Etung, Biase, Boki, Calabar Municipality, Obubra, Yakurr, Yala, Obanliku, Obudu, Ikom, and Calabar south LGAs. Deputy Governor Odey Commends APC Stakeholders for Supporting Governor Otu's Administration.

The Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Cross River govt unveils CNG conversion, training centre in Calabar

The Cross River state government, on Thursday, officially inaugurated a pilot conversion and training centre aimed at facilitating the conversion of vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in the region. This initiative is designed to support the government’s CNG program and alleviate the financial impact of fuel subsidy removal by lowering transportation expenses. While commissioning the CNG vehicle and training facility in Calabar, Cross River’s governor, Senator Bassey Otu, represented by his deputy, Rtd Hon Peter Odey, remarked that this centre is the largest of its kind in Nigeria, establishing a new benchmark for CNG vehicle conversion and technician training. Today, during the House of Representatives plenary, the member representing Ogoja/Yala federal constituency, Hon. Godwin Offiono’s bill for the alteration of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, to create Ogoja state was read for the second time.
